Getting into the holiday spirit: Did you know...?

The holiday season is something that the world shares. Whether you live in France, England, America, or Germany, you can count on at least one person you know celebrating something during this time of the year. In terms of Christmas, there are many interesting traditions; both the western and eastern world have a multitude of cultural differences. For example, in France, their revillon (dinner after Christmas or Christmas Eve mass) is usually accompanied by their traditional Bûche de Noël (translated to English as Log Cake).

Despite the fact that the American Civil War only lasted four years, (1861-1865) there were many violent deaths associated with it. These violent deaths combine with emotional trauma faced by many during the time of war to culminate into a menagerie of supernatural occurrences. It is for this very reason that ghosts haunt America – be it in Tennessee, Virginia, or  more – to this very day. The ghosts in Coleman's book range from Smoot – a simplistic farmer – to the anonymous Shiloh drummer boy, and from the infamous John Brown to the ghosts of the 69th Irish group in Antietem.
